She is the only authority on frocks left in the world!

It's interesting looking back at the history of fashion, in a recent lecture we got given key notable figures that have shaped the way fashion, design and photography is today.

I find the most interesting are the true eccentrics. The figures that have no fear, they're bold and brassy and give their opinion without an inch of doubt.
Anna Piaggi is a character. She conceptualizes fashion as an art form not an industry. She's been around for years, writing for Italian Vogue and being an all round fashion icon. Manolo Blahnik calls her "modern beyond belief", which I find interesting, for her to still be modern and relevant today says a lot about her quirky fashion sense and how much influence she has in fashion. She herself has commented on what she feels fashion must be, "Fashion must relate to the moment. It has to be immediate."
I love the fact that if a random person saw on her on the street, they could misplace her as a crazy old lady who dresses 'weird', yet to the world of fashion she is an authority.

"And as we set out to lunch, she shrugs on her new Pucci jacket by Christian Lacroix, perches a tiny little straw trilby on the top of her head, pulls on her bright-blue fishnet fingerless gloves, takes hold of her funny, child's walking cane, and she's complete. And I think Blahnik is right. She is modern. Looking at her is like surfing 40 TV channels at once. She's electric. And off she trips, down the stairs, in a world all her own."
